Chris,
Would recommend that you get a CPU temperature checker software to monitor your CPU temp. Especially if you get any erratic behaviour.

I am sure originally it would have thermal paste; it is not easy to get a good seat without paste. Paste makes a big difference. Currently the best is Arctic Silver III. You only need a little.
