Could you point me at the discussions you found on this topic? And is it a problem under all versions of Mac OS X?

Hi,

After researching the discussion boards it turns out that this latest version of Appleworks for OS X has a recognized problem with collecting recent items into a folder that gradually fills up and increasingly slows down the program. This continues to occur if you specify under preferences not to remember recent documents. This is a bug in the program. The cure is to periodically empty the recent documents folder and then restart Appleworks. The location for this folder is username/documents/appleworks user data/starting points/recent items. As I understand it, it does not hurt to empty out the autosave and cache folders as well. After I did this, Appleworks returned to its sprightly self, without endless waits for spinning cursors.
