I've got a wallstreet II 233Mhz, with 384 MB, running Mac Os 9.1. I'm using a firewire PCMCIA card to capture video to iMovie 2. . . everything has been plugged but no video, iMovie says: "Camera Disconnected", but the camera is connected. I had OS X.2 on my wallstreet and it captured then, although the video dropped frames everywhere, it did at least capture. . what gives?
should I just invest in a power book that is firewire ready, for an example the pismo? or should I keep hacking away at this. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

I once had the same setup. As far as can remember, I had sometimes trouble with iMovie recognizing the camcorder was connected, though sometimes playing the tape a bit or changing the tape made it work. At the time, I attributed this to the fact that some tapes were actual Hi8 tapes (which are analog but can be read by Digital 8 camcorders).
Maybe you can take a look at BTV PRO (http://www.bensoftware.com)
This excellent shareware program has the best record of being compatible with just about any video source that can be attached to a mac. (Plus, it does many other things, too).
Even now, on my TiBook with iMovie 3, I use BTV PRO to capture analog footage, with my camcorder acting as an analog/digital bridge, and doing the reverse process; iMovie does not handle that, apparently (typically, it looks as though there is no video signal coming from the camcorder), but BTV PRO lets me do it (and the reverse process, i.e. output digital video from mac to a vhs tape) with ease.
