Not sure about this, but isn't ATA/100 the actual speed of the interface, i.e. 100MB/sec, while the 3, 4, 5 or 6 being the actual interface version or name? I think that a few years ago, the ATA interfaces were mostly identified by that number, 3, 4, 5, or 6. Now, it seems that you see more and more things like ATA/100, or ATA/133 or even SATA/150 (for serial ATA).
