Have you tried making sure the CPU board is properly seated? I recall that this can prevent the Pismos from starting up at all (and sometimes other flaky stuff). Try removing and re-seating the processor card, pressing firmly down (but not too hard), and then leaving the AC adapter plugged in in case your battery is run down.
