Thanks all of you kind souls who provided advice on adding RAM to my Lombard 333. From what I gather, replacing both the low profile lower socket and upper socket with 256 MB modules should work just fine to run OS X, but 512 is probably the maximum for this machine. Unlike the Wallstreet, density is not an issue with the Lombard, but also the Lombard is not capable of as much memory as the Pismo. Finally, GURU is probably too optimistic, and overgeneralizing when they claim that 1024 is the maximum.

Al Poulin, thanks for sending me that archived thread from last January, "RAM needed for OS X on Lombard." I'll look for it carefully in my inbox, amongst all that other spam that regularly appears there.
