When? If this is recent I would STILL reinstall with the 10.2.8 *COMBO*
updater. Is this what you did or did you go 10.2.5 > 10.2.6 before the
10.2.8? If this is what you did I would reinstall everything including
Open Firmware resets, as I said earlier.
I did this Combo updating for all of the 10.2 incremental updates and
never had the problems many others were talking about, including early
adopters of 10.2.8 before that was reissued.

It's possible you have a problem with your battery unrelated to the early
battery problem of 10.2.8 and that updating somehow triggered the error. 

Have you also recently taken apart your machine? What other actions have
you done?

My battery time on my WS II remain at about 2 hours with 10.2.x and 10.3.x.
