Well, you may be right. It's all kind of rhetorical, at least for me, since I live in Oregon.

I'm not sure I understand this. Basically, computer components bought in Alberta will have these "fees" built-in to the retail prices? This is in anticipation that any product bought in Alberta will eventaully be disposed of in Alberta? Sounds to me like a great way to get your citizens to buy elsewhere! How does this not screw your local retailers?

It's a big province. To go from the major cities outside the prov. would cost more than the fees.

People here already drive an hour or more, just to avoid paying sales tax.


What about mail-order? These fees amount to a $30 premium on a system. Stores already have a hard time competing against mail order prices, especially when they offer free shipping.

I can see charging a fee at disposal time. That makes sense to me... But this...? I just don't understand the reasoning behind this.
