iBook G4 14" boot issue

[Beniamino Cenci Goga]

This brand new iBook G4 14" does not boot after a cold boot: it emits 
the bong but then the screen stays dark and the HD does not spin.

I have to hit the ctrl + apple + power combination to restart it to 
have it booting properly.

The hardware test says it is okay. I need it to finish my course at 
the university (I teach at the vet school) so I will be able to send 
back, in case it is an hardware problem), to Apple only at the end of 
May.

Ideas?
