I just bought an iBook 366 MHz and the battery has a very short life. Is
this a problem with that iBook or do I need to replace the battery?

Its obviously an older iBook and you can never tell if the battery has been used a lot or a little or if it was conditioned properly when it was new. I suggest that you get a NEW battery into it and start fresh or you will never have a battery you can trust.
