What extras do you find essential when owning a powerbook? I've read about stands, extra batteries, displays/mice/keyboards for home use, etc. (I'm sure one person's necessity will be another person's luxury.)

Also, when ordering a powerbook from apple.com, how long should I expect to wait until it arrives? Days? Months?

At my desk, I prefer to have my powerbook on a stand, and use an external USB mouse and keyboard. I do not currently use an external display with my Powerbook, I use the internal LCD at the desk. I also have a couple of extra firewire drives for storing data that I only need at home (my Itunes Library is one of those things), one of the drives is used as a backup for my internal drive on my powerbook. I use carbon copy cloner once a week to make a full bootable backup of my internal powerbook drive in case something happens. I bought an extra AC adapter as well (non-Apple). I can leave one at my desk at my office, and leave one at home.

FWIW, I really like my 17" PowerBook and I don't find it hard to carry at all.

As far as shipping times, those will be listed right on Apple's web site when you go through the ordering process.
