Hi,

On a recent trip to my local Micro Center, I saw some USB pherephials in the discout bin, a.k.a. the "Craig W. Department"(!)...

What is so different about USB 2.0, other than the "high speed?" Can it do more?

No, it's just faster.

Many, but not all USB 2.0 devices are backwards compatible with 1.1.

I am assuming my Wallstreet has USB 1.1. I also feel safe in guessing that a USB 2.0-equipped computer can use older USB stuff. If I ever need to do so, can my Wallstreet use USB 2.0 products w/ some adapter or something?

No, there is no solution, afaik, for USB 2.0 support on a Wallstreet. You would be better off finding Firewire versions of these peripherals and getting a firewire card.
