Yes. Apple's AirPort cards have proprietary connectors. In fact, the connectors between Apple's own AirPort cards and AirPort Extreme cards are different! Even though you cannot take advantage of AirPort Extreme on your TiBook, you can still get 802.11g via 3rd-party PC Cards.
