There may be differences due to the definition of a gigabyte
(i.e. 134217728 bits vs. 125000000 bits) where manufacturers
prefer to choose the smaller conversion to get a bigger GB.
Then there's the fact that a certain percentage of any media 
will be reserved by the filesystem format.  This is true with
hard drives, blank CD-Rs, blank CD-RWs, blank DVD-Rs, blank
DVD-RWs, flash drives, etc.  These differences exist on all
platforms; it's not a Mac-only issue.
