Well, okay, but my point is that, as it looks to me, their goal was likely along the lines of building a product that will allow the minority of computer users (us Mac geeks) to run their immensely popular OS (Windows) in hopes that they can sell a few units. If it happens that a tiny fraction of those people use the product to run yet a third OS, like Linux, fine---what do they care? We're talking about an insignificant, from their perspective, number of people. While I feel sure that they aren't going to make any effort whatever to support this (why should they? there's no money in it...) I also can't imagine that they'd make even a tiny effort to keep it from working either. Again, why should they...it's just a tiny fraction of the market. People wanting to run Linux on VPC on a Mac aren't even a nuisance to MS...not even a curiosity.

You guys see them black helicopters circling? Lemme see if I've got
this right...MS, one of the richest, most successful companies in

the users of a platform (Mac) that is maybe 10% of computerdom...yeah,
I'm sure they're really burning the midnight oil on that one. Can you
spell "paranoia?"

And *not* making that sort of effort is why (likely) neither you not I nor
most of the folks on this list will meet with anywhere near that
"success". Their attention to detail in the realm of programming may lack,
but that can't really be said of their marketing.
