Read a long thread on battery life elsewhere (which has some application to
your storage question) and the conclusion was, in order to get the longest
possible life from your battery, discharge it to the 40~50% level, remove
it, put it in a baggie and store it in the fridge.

Under normal use of the laptop, pop in the battery once a month, charge it,
let it drop to the 40~50% level again, remove it and bag in to the fridge.
