Another suggestion. Targus makes a nice laptop backpack.
A) Doesn't look like a laptop bag (unless someone knows the name Targus)
B) Frees your hands so you aren't tempted to put it down when looking at something else (or if you need to go to the bathroom you don't have to set your laptop bag down on the floor).
Of course if you travel in a 3 piece suit, wearing a backpack is a bit of a fashion statement, but not having my Powerbook stolen is more important to me.
