Glad to hear its up and walking.

Try running a CD cleaner through the CD drive. Sounds like its dirty or out
of focus. There is an adjustment process for the drive, I had to do it for
my 1400, but its a little complicated. Somebody had directions for the
PB1400 CD drive (should be similar). I don't remember who's website it was
on but Maybe somebody else remembers???

Battery may be dead/dying. You could check the contacts on the battery and
in the PB. Rubbing with a Q-tip in denatured alcohol or VCR head cleaning
solution should clean them up.

To try to recondition the battery after it shows consistently you could
charge the battery, remove when charged and reinsert after 30 seconds or so
to maximize the charge it will take. Do this 3-4 times in a row.
