I must disagree with this advice. "Very tightly" will probably see a few daughtercards cracked. There is no 'snap' in replacing the heatsink, like there is when replacing the daughtercard, as you snap the connector.
As I see it, the best way to reinstall the heat sink is;
Firstly, clean both faces (CPU and heatsink) using naptha (lighter fluid)
or alcohol.
Put a matchhead size blob of heat transfer compound on the centre of the CPU.
Put the heatsink in the correct location, and start all 3 screws (2 on sink, 1 on other end).
Then, pressing firmly on the heatsink, - directly above the CPU - , tighten each screw a little bit each time, until they are firm. Do not overtighten; a stripped thread would be the least problem you could get!
