My Canon S750 has gone kaput, after very little use. It is, however,
a few years old. The print head needs to be replaced, which would be
as expensive as buying a new one. I talked to the Canon rep at
MacWorld this week, and he said that part of the problem was my
infrequent use of the printer. I really don't need to print much,
but I do want the option of color printing. Does anyone have a
recommendation for a printer for someone who does not print that
much stuff?

You might consider an HP. Their print cartridge combines the ink reservoir with the ink jet print head. While it won't prevent the head from clogging, cleaning it, no matter how clogged is as simple as replacing the cartridge.

Consider Epson too, for the same reason.
