Hi Laurent,
I was talking about the harddisk-looking icon that pops up on the desktop after installing some software. When I hit Command+I on it, it says that it is a "Volume".
Did that make more sense?
Anyway, I was glad to read that I didn`t need to keep these, and that I had not done anything wrong by tossing them out! :)
