All this talk of reviving dead hard drives inspired me to make another attempt with my 60 gig FireWire external, that quit on me a few months back.
Most of what was on it was backed up to CD's, but there are few things that weren't. I would like to find a way to recover them. My drive has no problem spinning up, sounding like a well-tuned jet turbine when it is running. When it's time for it to "kick in" and start reading, however, it just gives a few clicking noises and keeps on spinning. The little green ready light LED does not light up either. I tried the freezer trick, and until it warmed up again, it sounded like my old Ford pickup starting on a below zero day. The clicks came, but it still doesn't read, or show up on my desktop. Does anyone have a home remedy for this? Thanks, Jon -- G-Books is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
