Hi the Lombard is a lot easier to get an internal cdrw for, also if you are prepared to change the drive housing's yourself? it is cheap as-well!. about £40 - £70 on ebay.
I used an external firewire drive that came with a G4 powerbook (i think it was a fire lite drive) The internals where matsushita i think.
all you need is that the internals are the same size ( ie a 3.5 extermal cdrw is not going to fit in a drive bay for the lombard) but an external slim line or travel drive might. and the connecter on the end is the same. the fitting is very easy and someone on this list has a to do page on it ! own up who ever it is.
