She knew how to change the application a document opens with (read her
post carefully!), just not which application is set by default to open
zip files transparently. Apple Help is of no use whatsoever, as it
doesn't mention BOMArchiveHelper anywhere at all.

out how OS X works, at least not for basic stuff like this. If you had
searched for "open documents" in the online Apple Help in the help menu
of Finder you would probably found the item "the document doesn't open
with the app I've chosen" (or something similar) when you glanced at

search result list.
