provided there is no password involved, you should have no problem using your ibook wirelessly.
the building that i live has concrete walls, but i have no problem getting a signal in the apartment. i am right now in my bedroom and the modem is in the other bedroom. i get 4 lines in the signal. if i go to the living room, i usually get 3 lines. granted, my place is not big, but the walls are solid.

I just got one off ebay and love the machine. I have ordered one of the original airport cards and do not have a base station. But I do have DSL through the phone company and a wireless gateway that is supposedly compatible with macintosh.
My question for now: will I have the ability to get wireless at say the coffee shop with the old airport card? Are there suggestions for a wireless "booster" that would work to make the iBook useful in any room in my house?
I'm sure there will be more questions as I get the airport card and get it installed, which I don't think will be a problem.
