My ex-GF bought an iPod Mini and have great problems syncing it to
anything as she have only USB-1 connectors on the PC and iBook 366 that
she uses. She also don't have a firewire cable as these babies come with
USB-2 cables only. I thought they'd be backwards compatible and only
being slower, but no.
She was able to use it on the PC, but there are no playlists transfers.
On a 2nd iBook 366 with OS 9, the iPod doesn't even mount as a HD for
temp storage.

What are the best suggestions in this situation? Any ideas?

So far, the whole experience seem very unmaclike. So now the Mac users
have to pay for that Apple was so slow getting USB-2 and because they
decided to standardize on that with these iPods (but not on the earlier
Mac models), barring very suitable machines otherwise, unless you get a
FW cable. Hmmm. Maybe look at iRiver instead after all....
