I am considering a G3 400 MHz Pismo. I spoke with the woman who owns
it and she mentioned it has a 'click/tick'. She was concerned about
it and the man who sold it to her (a salesman at her local computer
store) assured her it was the clock - her comment: " it seems to be in
sync with the seconds".

Anybody have any ideas of what this could be?

Anything I should be wary of / know about when shopping in the Pismo market?

Irie.
