The important thing to remember is... for a standard, straight through
cable
both connectors must be wired in the exact same order. Keeping the
colors
straight is nice, but not required. Just make sure pin 1 is wired to
pin 1,
pin 2 to pin 2 and so on.
The crossover cable (direct connect, computer to computer) is a
different
animal altogether and I won't pretend to remember how that works. I've
made
just one of them in over 15 years.
