The printer is actually a Canon.
Apple bundled the Portable SW with a serial-parallel adapter and a software nad by GDT.
The same company did the POwerPrint series of adapters and a great software to connect to the mac most of the PC printers.
You will need the adapter and a specific software.
I can provide you for free with the original software that shipped with the Portable SW, it is now obsolete.
Consider that to use it with 7.5 or 8 you probably need the PowerPrint software and indicate the printer as a canon BJ10e or so.
Definitevely it will not work with any of the Printer that the OS installer put into the chooser.
