Maybe a stupid idea that may help - I remember from one old program on Windows that it was reading the titles of the windows to determine if the app was running. I had Text Editor with file of the same name as app open and it would not allow me to run the installer. Check if you have browser or some other window open that has iLife or any of the iLife applications in the title. It may or may not work - depend on how they determine that something is running.
