We may be viewing mail differently. I use the main browser, and keep the upper-right window fairly small. In this view, the up or down arrows (if the message subject is highlighted; if not, tab to get there) go to the next or previous message (I keep messages sorted by date in descending order). If you use threading, click on the thread, and the right arrow takes you to the first unread message in the thread.

Apparently, this doesn't work if you open an email in its own window.

I use the arrow keys for many things, except getting to a new mail after having read another.
I have tried many key combination with the arrow keys (thinking Entourage here) but none has worked. Do you know of a combination that works?
