Tiger does not support FileSharing over Appletalk, only TCP/IP.
And I and other have found that TCP/IP Filesharing between X.2{<.4, I think, not sure which rev.} or X.3 & OS9 is unstable; it times out after about 120 seconds idle.
This bug has been reported multiple times. Apple waffles between claiming they fixed it -- just buy 10.3, and back to "we're looking at it.." when you do and it's still there. I doubt they EVER will.
