Andrew,

1. Don't install 10.3.5-10.3.7 without updating to 10.3.8 if you are using a dialup Internet connection. As I have heard of no problems with 10.3.8 or 10.3.9, and as they include a number of security patches, you should update anyway. Yes, the downloading can be a pain if you don't have access to a high speed connection (I go to the Apple Store).

Versions 10.3.5-10.3.7 had a modem bug that would cause delays in getting dial tone and eventual kernel panic, which necessitated a restart. After restart, the modem worked well maybe six times before the delays would start.

2. Panther is available on CDs.

3. Panther retail CDs include OS 9. Well, at least the ones that I have do include OS 9.
