I'm getting used to the new mail. I don't like how it looks compared to the old one (looks too much like an add on application). I would prefer to have my choice of where the folder list appears like I did with Mail 1.0. There were times I wanted the folder bar to disappear. I can't do that now.
You can still use Hide Mailboxes/Show Mailboxes menu item (Shift +Command+M) or put the button on your toolbar. Doubleclicking on the three vertical lines near the separator at the bottom (or the separator itself, but it's difficult to aim at) also does the trick.
