In the TCP/IP Control Panel, toggle the "Connect Via" button and drag down
to Ethernet. Set the "Configure:" menu to "Using DHCP Server."

After setting the Lombard TCP/IP Control Panel, you may have to reset
the modem. Turn of the Lombard, unplug the modem. Wait a minute or so and
plug the modem back in. The restart the Lombard. If all goes well, the
modem
should get an address and when the Lombard restarts there should be an
address
in the "DHCP Client ID" window of the Control Panel

If the two machines are Macs, and are in the same room or building, you
could connect them together with a ethernet cable (or ethernet crossover
cable, depending on the machines).
