When I was using my Pismo 500, iChat AV required a 600MHz processor for video. Plus, iChat would not recognize my MiniDV camera. So, I got a piece of software called "iChatUSBCam" that made iChat works with my camera on my Pismo. They also say that you enable DV cameras on your G3, such as the iSight.
