Broken router issues aside, Linksys sux. Time and again, I've seen their older routers (built before the Cisco buyout) provide poor performance. The problem is either they use really slow processors (< 66-MHz mostly) or their wireless implementation sux. Newer Linksys products are better. I've never seen the problem with Netgear etc.
My Pre-Cisco buy Linksys wap11 worked fine and delivered good performance with my 17" powerbook.
