Not too slow at all. I have 10.4 on my 500Mhz Pismo, and two upgraded G4's: one an 800Mhz Sawtooth, the other 1000Mhz gigabit ethernet. While it's a noticable difference between them and the powerbook, I've found myself using the powerbook more than the 1Ghz tower at home because it's portable.

10.4 runs about as fast as OS 9 ever did on it.
