I had two questions in my last post. This list's input helped me with the first question, but here's the second one again:

I have inadvertently changed a preference of some sort. When I strike any of the lower corner keys once (such as shift, fn, ctrl, option, and control), it makes a manual typewriter noise, as if you are locking in the "shift" key, and causes that key's symbol to appear on the screen. When I hit it a second time, it makes another manual typewriter noise, and causes that key's symbol to be a bolder white. A third strike causes it to disappear. Also, the strike of any other key causes it to disappear as well. I can't find any info on this. It is not num lock. The noise is very irritating, and the changed action of these keys is messing me up as well. What did I do to cause this? I've looked in System Preferences under Keyboard & Mouse, but can't find anything that seems to be related.

Thanks,
Claire
