Two possible causes come to mind.

1. Pram battery dead.
plug into charger for 24 hours

2. PMU confused.
reset procedure:
If the computer is on, turn it off.
Reset the power manager by simultaneously pressing and then releasing Shift-Control-Option-Power on the keyboard. Do not press the fn (Function) key while using this combination of keystrokes.
Wait 5 seconds.
Press the Power button to restart the computer.

I am not sure what is going on with my Powerbook. I have the 15" Al 1.25 Ghz model and it keeps shutting itself down instead of sleeping when I shut the lid completely to take break.

This is happening even on a full battery. When it is plugged in, it will just go to sleep and wakes as soon as I open the lid.

I just had it happen again tonight - I was working on a Word document (had it on battery power - 3/4 full) but had a phone call so to preserve battery power, I closed the lid while on my call. When I opened it to resume typing - Nothing, nada, zip. I could not get it to wake up no matter what I tried (i.e. hitting space bar, various keys, etc etc).

The only way I could get it to power on again was to plug it in and then push the power key. However, even then, it took 5 tries before it finally came on. Before that, I heard it come on but then heard a click like the disk drive was trying to turn and then nothing. I waited a couple of minutes and then tried again. Like I said, after 5 tries with 2 minutes in between each, it finally came on.

Any suggestions as to what may be going on ?

Amber
