Ken.... yes, I may go this route. Would certainly be cheaper as for a couple of reasons I wouldn't attempt to do a modem install myself. I am thinking about adding a new iMac to my life and if I do, won't get a new 'book but will upgrade this one with bigger, faster HD and a new modem. In the meantime, the slot modem might be the way to go.
