The SR-8174-C 6X Mfgd 2000 (Pismo) and the SR-8173-C ?X Mfgd 1999 (Lombard) both seem to work well. I've replaced both with up-to-date writeable and rewriteable drives, with good success, except for cosmetics. One way to solve that would be to make an RTV mold of the Apple bezel, and then graft a cast piece onto the replacement drive's door.
