Yes. Tiger has broken networking to old MacOS systems via Apple. You must be able to support Appletalk over TCP/IP (included in OS 9). Note that you _can_ connect from Mac OS8/9 to Mac OS X 10.4.2. I have done this with MacOS 8.1, MacOS 9.1, but not the other way around. Supposedly, you can alternately use ShareWay IP ( http:// www.opendoor.com/shareway ) to connect OS X 10.4.2 to MacOS 7/8/9, but I have no personal experience with that product.

Panther and previous Mac OS X releases do not have this problem.
