This mouse works flawlessly with the Lithium batteries (9 euros every 2 months... way too expensive) while when I switch to the NiMH (this last set rated at 2500 mAmps) the pointer does not follow smoothly the mouse movement.

With the Lithium it is rock solid up to the very last minute of use (just before it power off).

NiMH batteries are a slightly lower voltage (1.2V) than the lithium batteries (1.5V)

However the Lithium batteries are readily available cheaper online:

<http://www.thomas-distributing.com/enr-l91bp-4.htm> $8 US for 4 batteries.

<http://tinyurl.com/98p38> for a number of online sellers, 8-packs for $15-$18 US.

This will do until someone starts making LiIon AA cells, which apparently no one does.
