I'm using a LinkSys BEFSR41 to share my cable modem connection
between my B&W G3, my iBook (via an airport base station acting as a
bridge only), and a PC.

All of the management is done with a web browser by connection to
http://192.168.1.1/ and firmware updates can be done with a TFTP
client you can find at VersionTracker. Under OSX, you can use the
TFTP command from the command line to update the firmware.
