If you aren't familiar with the ACS, it is a list people who think computers
deserve better than to be tossed in landfills when their owners consider
them to be no longer of use. This is an organization of people willing to
take in and/or find homes for abandoned computers brought to them in their
community. ACS was originally started way back when by Andrew Hill (Aqua)
and several other LEM members who wanted to do something about the
increasing number of "abandoned" computers.

After a prolonged period of downtime, the ACS is formally back up again
running on JMUG list servers. If you're a member and didn't get a notice
from me, or would like to become one, please read the letter that went out
today below.

For more information on the ACS, and the list of current shelters, please

Hello everyone,

Some of you may not remember, but this is a mailing from the Abandoned
Computer Shelter email list you joined quite a while ago. I just want to say
that the list is back up and active again, on our new server. JMUG
(www.jmug.org) is nice enough to continue this wonderful service, even after
they had some difficulties hosting lists, due to the increased demand and
costs of servers and bandwidth.

After the prolonged downtime, I'm glad we are finally back and functional.
We will continue to serve our main purpose of finding good homes for
abandoned computers.

For more information on the ACS, as well as a global listing of shelters,
please see: www.jmug.org/acs

As before, this is a members-only discussion list relating to abandoned
computers. If you know of someone who would like to join, they may do so by
sending an email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Thank you for your patients, and we hope that this organization will
continue to thrive in the never-ending effort to keep computers out of
landfills, and to place them where they can be used again.

If you have any questions, please email Aqua ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) or Sam
([EMAIL PROTECTED]).

The new address to post messages to the list is: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Thank you, and happy computing!

Sam Burrish
(ACS member, JMUG co-founder)

Thanks!
Sam
