Thats a tough call.  The G3/450 will be faster on Classic OS9.  I'm 
not sure about OSX though.  The G4 will kick the G3 in anything 
AltiVec enabled, but it will really lag behind with other stuff

Basically for me, the slowest thing is the disk.  Moving stuff 
around, copying etc.  I have 768MB RAM (supposed to be a gig, but 
they sent me an 8x256 instead of a 16x128) and I use most of it. 
I'll have some programs crunching statistics while doing web design 
at the same time and downloading.  With ATA this becomes a serious 
problem.  My SCSI was much nicer than this ATA I'm forced to use now, 
even though it was a crippled SCSI drive (only 384k cache).

What card are you thinking of driving the 10k drive with?  Will you 
go Ultra160 or just hit Ultra2Wide.  U2W is much cheaper now.
