I set up my Mac and PC at my college digs last saturday and plugged the
D-SUB lead from my monitor to my G3 (was an arbitrary thing - I didn't
think it made a difference) and the BNC convertor into my PC. The
Monitor, a MaxData/Belinea 17" 107030 is a plug and play PC monitor and
is picked up by Windows as soon as it is connected to the PC via the
D-SUB (the BNC carries no PNP signal for obvious reasons...). Since I've
had the D-SUB connector on my G3 it refuses to let me chooses a
resolution above 1280x1024, the max resolution of my Monitor according
to Belinea (I usually have it at 1600x1200 @ 75Hz and it's fine). Could
OS X and/or my G3 be recognising the PNP signal from a PC monitor? This
monitor is not - to my knowledge - supported by Apple...
