Common misconception. DVD-RAM isn't the typical DVD type to which most
people refer. Think of a DVD-RAM disk as a huge floppy disk. It mounts
much like a floppy; you can transfer files back and forth *in the finder*
like a floppy (i.e. no special software required; no "burning" involved);
it's just about as slow as a floppy :-(

"Burning" requires DVD-R/RW media and the appropriate burner.

Then there's also DVD+R and +RW. Arghh. "Standards" (sic).

This site might be a good place to start your education ;-)
