I felt the same way. I wanted to avoid AIM, M$, etc. I use Netscape
Communicator and they also promote Netscape Instant Messenger. I think
it's just a different flavor of AIM. I'm attempting to migrate from ICQ.

Subject: Messaging recommendations?

I need to frequently IM another Mac user out of state, and (out of
frustration) we would like to not use AOL IM or Yahoo! Messenger on our
OS
9.1 systems. Any recommendations? (free is good!)
